The name
The song was called The Orange Jang from the first riff recording I made for it, and it has stayed that way. Some of my songs spend years under a working title, typo included (Buried Elsewhere was Space Odysseya for a decade). This one did not.
That first recording is a rehearsal-place demo from 2016. Here it is, as it was:

The original guitar melody is not really in the song anymore, or maybe parts of it are buried somewhere in the background. But it all started with that riff, and the riff led to another thing: the intro’s eastern guitar feeling. That stayed.
The most frustrating one
Of all my songs, this was the most frustrating to develop. I always felt the whole thing could work really well if I had the skills to produce a “big enough” sound. I listened to a lot of Tool and envied them.
With the help of AI tools I finally got the big, cinematic feeling I had wanted for years. I would still love to record this one with a proper band someday. The saga continues.
Genie wishes
If a genie gave me wishes for this song, they would be:
It would sound like Muse, Tool
and Karnivool had a threesome,
and this was their baby.
It would look like Dune.
I guess we are far from it.
The cover, and the video
The cover art is over a decade old: a hooded figure over a city under an orange, burning sky. I tried creating some animations around it, and that became the music video.
