The riffs
There is no special story behind Fold. I think the riffs, in all their simplicity, just work.
I have a lot of lo-fi recordings from the days it was made. This is one of them: our rock trio jamming the riffs in 2014, at my parents’ summer cottage here in Finland. One room, one recorder, the whole thing as it was.

The words
The lyrics are older than the riffs. I wrote them in 2005 or 2006, and they were first meant for a different song: the bass-riff demo I called Space Odysseya, which years later became Buried Elsewhere. They never fit that riff. I hit the wall I often hit, and the song got parked.
The words did not. A little modified, they landed on these riffs instead. So Fold is where twenty-year-old lyrics and twelve-year-old riffs finally found each other, one track before the song the words were originally written for.
We arrive where everything
once began.
We’re given one more chance
to start again.
“Fold” is folding space. The bridge says it outright.

How it got here
- 2005–2006The space-journey lyrics are written, for a song that does not exist yet.
- 2014The cottage jam. Three of us at my parents’ summer cottage, running the riffs. Recorded on the spot.
- 2016The words are tried on the Space Odysseya riff. They will not fit. That song is parked and later becomes Buried Elsewhere.
- 14 August 2026Fold is released as track 3 of the Cometfall debut album Buried Elsewhere, the words reworked to sit on the 2014 riffs.
- 26 September 2026The 2014 recording goes up on SoundCloud, as it was.
